It happened. It finally, after 37 years of truly fantastic filmmaking, has happened. Martin Scorsese has won his long-awaited, heartily-deserved directing Oscar for "The Departed." I could not be happier. What's more, "The Departed," which was easily the best film of the year, took the prize for Best Picture.
Finally, the Oscars have gotten it right!
Expect my commentary and wrap-up tomorrow, folks. In the meantime, be happy for Marty!

ReplyDeleteAnd as for your "thought of the day," while it may make up for Crash winning best picture, does it make up for both that AND 3/6 Mafia winning best song? THAT is the question.
You know, that's a good point. But I think "The Departed" also winning Best Picture made up for the 3/6 Mafia debacle of '06.
