Visionary voiceover artist dies

Don LaFontaine, known in the industry as The Voice, was the friggin' man. In his long and varied career, LaFontaine did the voice work for 750,000 TV spots and over 5,000 film trailers. Though he is an obscure name in the entertainment industry, anyone who has ever watched television or gone to the movies has heard LaFontaine's voice countless times.

LaFontaine died September 1, 2008, of complications due to a blood clot in his lungs. He will be sorely missed and remembered as a man forever ingrained in the art of cinema. He was a true artist. Please keep an eye out for my tribute to Don LaFontaine, which I plan on typing up soon. In the meantime, I'm going to mourn the man who got me excited about movies.
