I just met David Sedaris

I went to a reading tonight at the University of Puget Sound and had the pleasure of listening to author and humorist David Sedaris. Sedaris, who is one of my favorite authors, is a true literary artist and one of the funniest writers out there currently. Afterwards, he was signing books and I braved a line for a full hour to meet him.

He was a great guy. Very friendly and warm. He spent time with each and every person in that line, taking the effort to have a conversation with each of us. I'm so happy I got to meet him.

So, if you ever get the chance to attend a reading by David Sedaris, go. And pick up some of his stuff, if you haven't already. I recommend "Naked" and "Me Talk Pretty One Day." Great, great books.

  1. David Sedaris makes me laugh. I love it when he reads his stuff live. We actually bought a CD just because it had a few tracks of him reading chapters from "Me Talk Pretty One Day." I'm jealous you met him. But not bitter.

  2. Mmm. Sedaris.

I've only read "Me Talk Pretty One Day", but I really want to check some of his other stuff out.

    His sister's funny too.

  3. As a visual aid to accompany this, it would have been funny if you had taken a picture of your peanut with a face on it.
    Cute.

David Sedaris rocks my face off.
And I also prefer my bread toasted.

  4. Hey, it's been a while since I've checked in, nice. Did you happen to see Chelsea H or Ms. Fulton/Waller while there? They went.
